It’s finally here, the first full weekend of the 2006 NFL season. The first game was back on Thursday—Miami at Pittsburgh. Today, I will go over each game and give you my initial thoughts. I will not go into great detail—that will start next week. It’s 8am Sunday morning, so let’s get cracking.

The other night I was at the Red Rock Resort in Summerlin to enjoy a night out. I placed my first three-team college football parlay bet of the season. I’m more of a straight up bettor, but I will throw down a parlay here and there. My original intent wasn’t to place a parlay at all. However, I was out with my buddy who’s a parlay machine. He just can’t place a straight bet. He loves seeing the payoff go well beyond the bet.

It’s only game one of the 2006 season, but the Miami Dolphins have already proved they have work to do. One week ago, I wrote an article entitled “Miami Dolphins Over Hyped.” In that article, I talked about why the Miami Dolphins are not as good as the media was hyping them to be. I gave three solid reasons why. One reason was Daunte Culpepper. I mentioned his interception problem before. Last night that problem showed up in spades.

This entire NFL offseason we have been hearing media outlet after media outlet tout the Miami Dolphins. Yes, the Dolphins are this season’s bandwagon team. Countless NFL analysts are quick to jump on and shout, “Look Ma No Hands!” I am not one of them. Yes, the AFC East is not that strong, but I just am not buying that the Miami Dolphins are that great. They finished 9-7 last season thanks to a six game win streak to close out the year. I will present three ironclad points that prove the Miami Dolphins are not the best thing since sliced bread.

Last season was a breakthrough for the Seattle Seahawks. They went all the way to the Super Bowl—still getting little respect. In the Super Bowl, they lost to the officials who had little help from a team called the Steelers. The gross display of “officiating” was well documented. As usual, nothing was done about it and the game goes on. Still stinging from the rookie officiating mistakes, the Seahawks gear up for a new season.
